Christmas @ Sanctuary

By | News, Stories | No Comments

Celebrate our God and King during the Advent and Christmas season at Sanctuary.

Our Advent Sermon series is called, Becoming Ready for Jesus. We’re going to spend our teaching time looking back at the Old Testament prophecies of a Messiah, a king on earth that would flip the script, upset the status quo, and bring about God’s reign. Be ready in this season to look back in order to move forward as we accept this pure and holy gift from God, through his son, the Christ.

Moving to North High September 13, 2015

When worship services kick off in the next school year, things are going to look a little different around Sanctuary. Throughout the course of the last year, our staff and leadership teams have been exploring a Missional Move for Sanctuary’s next season of ministry.

We’ve long had a connection to the work being done at Minneapolis North Community High School. We have some key Sanctuary leaders who work as staff members at North High and they’ve been inviting us to be even more connected by having a weekly presence there. In addtion to the staff connections, we’ve also been celebrating achievement at North High on a quarterly basis with our Honor Roll Pancake Breakfast for honor roll students and their families. It’s been a great way for us to recognize the amazing assets within the community where our heart lives too.

Sanctuary has always wanted to be a North Minneapolis Church. In 2007, we moved our worship services to Anwatin Middle School out of necessity (we had to move out of Patrick Henry High School due to construction) and convenience (great freeway access, parking and auditorium size). Now, we feel we’re in a place to make a move that is not based solely in a sense of urgency or ease of use…but, because it moves us more on mission.

So, on September 6, 2015, we’ll hold our last service at Anwatin Middle School, and we’ll ask for all hands on deck as we pack everything up into a moving truck and head over to our new home for worship at North High Schoool.

Worshipping at North High School is a move that gets us closer to the heart of our ministry. It puts us in the geographic center of the community that we believe we’re called to serve from. Throughout the month of August, we’re going to be calling you to engage with the neighbors around North High to invite the community to join us in worship at our new home.
