1st Covenant Shelter: SCC has partnered with 1st Covenant in serving a once a month meal at their St. Stephen’s Shelter. SCC is seeking individuals who are passionate about sharing love, kindness, conversation, and good food with those who need it most. This group will once a month shopping for, create, and serve a meal to 40-60 guests.

SUPPORT

Union Gospel Mission: Union Gospel Mission is ministry that helps people by providing meals, education, shelter, safe and affordable housing, drug and alcohol recovery programs, and support services to those struggling with homelessness and addiction.

SCC partners with UGM by collecting food for their Thanksgiving harvest and redistributing to Northside families. Small groups can serve meals at their location and individuals can volunteer in individual ministry areas.

SUPPORT

NeighborHood Hub: SCC is in partnership with Neighborhood Hub (off of Washburn & Lowry) & refers all non member financial aid and support to them.

SCC gives monthly from our Care & Support offering to the Hub to provide our community with resources and emergency assistance.

Urban Homeworks: The mission of Urban Homeworks is to perpetuate the hope of Jesus Christ through innovative community development that produces equitable, dignified housing, a strategic network of good neighbors, and the redemptive development of real estate.

MENTORING

YoungLives: YoungLives vision is to reach teen moms by entering their world, modeling the unconditional love of Christ, and encouraging them to become the women and mothers God created them to be. Through Young Life’s time-tested methods and life-on-life mentoring, teen moms are empowered to make positive choices, set and achieve goals, and live a future rooted in Christ. SCC partners with YoungLives through prayer, mentorship and financial giving.

Boys to Men: Boys to Men is a  neighborhood boys activity group in North Minneapolis.

Boys will –Be challenged –Give back to their community –Earn money –Have fun! Boys to Men is an SCC Micro grant outreach. SCC partners with Boys to Men through prayer, mentorship, & financial giving.

COMMUNITY LIFE IN NORTH MINNEAPOLIS

FLOW: Since 2006, FLOW Northside Arts Crawl has become both a community celebration and premier art event in North Minneapolis. FLOW is a non-juried, self-guided tour of studios, galleries, theaters, commercial and vacant spaces over a mile and half of the West Broadway corridor.

FLOW is an opportunity for SCC to be a part of the community celebration and experience. In 2018, SCC hosted for the 1st time the main stage for FLOW’s preforming artists. We also participated by showcasing our own talent with SCC members.

COMMUNITY LIFE IN NORTH MINNEAPOLIS

Open Streets:  Open Streets Minneapolis is a free event bringing together community groups and local businesses to temporarily close major thoroughfares to car traffic, opening them up for people walking, biking, rolling, and playing.

Honduras: Melissa and Sergio Mejía

Melissa and Sergio are the Directors of Ignite Ministry and Ignite Christian Community Development Center in the heart of Aguas Del Padre Siguatepeque, Honduras. They are passionate about the development of the communities that surround them. They believe that together with the community they will see broken communities be healed and restored, by uniting action with the Word of God.

Ignite community center is a beacon of HOPE and OPPORTUNITY for a hurting community. Under the umbrella of Ignite, they have and continue to develop ministries that target specific areas of society such as Education (onsite Middle School), Spiritual growth (weekly family meetings), Health Care (onsite clinic), as well as community projects aimed at community development such as construction (building homes for families in need).

You are invited to come and be part of what God is doing in Honduras. Ignite Ministry receives groups year round who partner to push forward God’s Kingdom in love and unity.
