Dear Sanctuary Covenant Church:

First of all, I want to thank the Search Team for being such great ambassadors for your church. They communicated with me with respect, sincerity, a clear love of the Lord and a clear love for their church. I was particularly moved at the time of prayer we all had during one of my visits to Minneapolis. Throughout the entire process it was evident that all anyone wanted was what God wanted for Sanctuary Covenant Church.

I want you to know that your reputation out east is positive and strong! I learned of Pastor Efrem Smith and Sanctuary Covenant Church from a member of the church I started, Peace Fellowship. This friend worked for Sojourner’s in DC and was encouraged by the ministry of your founding pastor and of this church. Personally, I had the privilege of meeting Pastor Efrem Smith a few years ago at the Zondervan Pastor’s Conference in San Diego, where he was one of the emcees for that annual event.

Upon learning of your church, I went to the website and found myself not only impressed, but also excited. I was excited by your mission, your style, and by your clear desire to focus on the majors and not the minors. What I mean is that what came through, from your worship, your call to reconciliation, your ministry activities, your communication, your community involvement, and so much else was your passion to be the light of our Lord Jesus in your city; that is what a church should be about! I’ve been committed to ministering in urban settings all my adult life and have appreciated serving a diversity of people. The diversity of Sanctuary Covenant Church is wonderfully refreshing, and resonates with my heart.

If I am able to become a part of the team at Sanctuary Covenant Church, my hope is that I will be able to continue the mission of being a Christ-centered fellowship. I believe the Scriptures call us to love radically and serve selflessly, making disciples of all different kinds of people throughout the world, as the Great Commission commands.

Blessings,

Dennis.
