Laura grew up on a farm in a small town in Southwest Minnesota and moved to the Twin Cities in 2010 to study Elementary Education, Spanish Education and Spanish at Bethel University. She worked for six years as a Spanish Immersion Elementary Teacher and Literacy Leader in the public school system, and earned her Master’s in Literacy Education from Hamline University before the Lord directed her professional path to content design and administration, most recently working as the Chief of Staff for The Brook Community Church in South Minneapolis.
A solution-seeker and question-asker, she feels energized when creating the conditions that set organizations up for success, and loves wading through operational confusion to optimize systems and weave clarity, beauty, and excellence out of the chaos. She feels honored to work as the Formations Admin at The Sanctuary to design and maintain processes that result in each individual experiencing a deep sense of belonging and a growing relationship with God and one another.
Laura loves a warm tea latte or sparkling beverage (no coffee!), choco chip cookies, strategy games, making music, hanging out and adventuring with her husband/best friend, David, and their two young daughters, Sienna and Maya, and eating at new and favorite restaurants in the Cities. She studied abroad across Central America and Europe, and continues to love traveling and experiencing other cultures, and connecting with people beloved by God around the world. She and her family have lived in the Northside since 2015 and feel a deep love and pride for this community and their neighbors, and a strong desire to see its flourishing, for the good of the city to the glory of God.
